Description

Drywall and Ceiling Tile Installers are specialized workers in the construction industry that builds, install, apply or attach interior wallboards or wall coverings and ceiling boards in residential and commercial buildings. While most of the work is meant for functionality, such as fireproofing and acoustic damping, some are intended purely for decorative purposes.

As a part of their job drywallers will perform some or all the following duties:
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Trims rough edges from wallboard to maintain even joints, using knife.
  • Fits and fastens wallboard or sheetrock into specified position, using hand tools, portable power tools, or adhesive.
  • Measures and marks cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim, using tape measure, straightedge or square, and marking devices.
  • Installs blanket insulation between studs and tacks plastic moisture barrier over insulation.
  • Removes plaster, drywall, or paneling, using crowbar and hammer.
  • Observe work shift schedules for optimum work productivity. The typical schedule Monday to Friday 7 am to 15:15.
  • Apply wall covering and ceiling tiles in accordance with interior building specifications and standards.
  • Ensure that drywall panels and ceiling tiles are adequate to cover the entire interior walls and ceiling area.
  • Measure and cut drywall panels to ensure they fit within the interior and exterior frameworks.
  • Screw or nail wallboard panels to the wood or metal frames of the interiors and exteriors.
  • Attend training courses for productivity and work quality enhancements.
  • Install exterior sheeting
  • Must be able and be certify with working in heights and to use an hydraulic platforms
  • Assemble and dismantle scaffoldings
Skills and Specifications:
  • Must be physically capable to carry heavy drywall and insulation materials
  • Must have strong comprehension skills to follow instructions and read interior blueprints.
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be handy.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • High school diploma.
  • Workers must be punctual and reliable.
